A BIT ABOUT US

ZeroTrash Mission Viejo is a non-profit, all-volunteer group of community members who share the desire to keep Mission Viejo clean.   We meet on the 1st Saturday of each month to pick up trash around the beautiful city.  Our focus is to bring together community members (parents, children, students, scouts, friends, neighbors, business owners, groups, anyone interested in keeping MV clean) for a simple, fun, and impactful service experience.  Our pick-up events are fun way to meet your neighbors and work together as a community, as well as a great experience for kids to learn about their impact in their own neighborhood.   As others see us in action, we hope they will be inspired to join us in taking personal responsibility for the community.  ALL ARE WELCOME.

Please join us!   Click here for information about how you can get involved.

History of ZeroTrash:  The ZeroTrash movement originated in 2007 by Chip McDermott, a resident of Laguna Beach, who was tired of seeing litter around the city and decided to take action.  Chip founded ZeroTrash, which has since expanded to additional chapters in surrounding Orange County cities, including Rancho Santa Margarita, Dana Point, and now Mission Viejo!  Our Mission Viejo Chapter of ZeroTrash was founded by Jennifer Inocencio, a Mission Viejo native, and Branch Manager of Fairway Mortgage Capital in Mission Viejo.  Jennifer was inspired after seeing the Rancho Santa Margarita group in action, and with the help of Fairway Mortgage Capital, she began working to bring a chapter to Mission Viejo.   As the ZeroTrash visibility continues to grow, we hope other communities will join the movement!
